Don’t get discouraged and when in doubt, look to these simple fitness tips to help get you back on track. And of course, no matter what your health and wellness goals look like for 2022, be sure to make Paceline a part of it. We’ve got an incredible slate of new partners and rewards this year as well as the upcoming launch of our new credit card, so be sure to keep hitting your streaks and make all that hard work worth it!

Start Small

Start with small attainable goals to build confidence and consistency. Deciding you want to run a sub-3 hour marathon in 4 months with no training is destined to fail. However, finishing a marathon in the next 6 months coupled with attainable goals along the way is much easier to digest. While you should never let anything get in between you and your loftiest expectations, you’ll have more success with a series of more realistic milestones built-in along the way.

Know Your Why

Keep the goal in mind and why you want to achieve it. Are you working out to get healthier? Training for your first triathlon? Trying to find more energy throughout the day? Whatever your main motivation, keep it top of mind for when the going gets tough. Even better? Write it down and turn it into a mantra. Inspiration can come in many forms and you never know when remembering why you’re doing this in the first place can come in handy.

Be Flexible

There will be ups and downs on your journey so be adaptable. Everybody has an off day. Those times when your body just isn’t feeling it or you’re so tired from work that you can only muster enough energy to crawl into bed. That’s ok. Remember, there are 365 days in a year and a handful of bad ones won’t derail all your hard work.

Stay Consistent

Show up every day no matter what. This doesn’t mean you have to be in the gym grinding at 110% every single day. It just means that every day is an opportunity to put in some work towards your eventual goals. Taking the stairs rather than the elevator, a 20-minute yoga flow at the end of a long day, or even forgoing your latest tv binge to get a few extra hours of recovery sleep – it can all make a difference.

Build Routines

Focus on habits over outcomes and have a plan. Part of staying consistent is building out better routines along the way. If the idea of starting a new fitness regimen for the year sounds overwhelming, this is the perfect opportunity to build out a plan of how you’ll get there. By focusing on how you can optimize your routines, you’ll be laying a foundation for long-term growth.

Challenge Yourself

If it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, change is hard! But as the old adage goes, if it were easy, everybody would do it. Challenging yourself to something that seems difficult will make the success that much sweeter when you attain it. Setting your sights on something that seems outside of your comfort zone could be just the motivation you need to unlock strength you never even knew you had.

Enjoy the Process

Find ways to have fun on your journey, the more you enjoy it the easier it becomes. While any new fitness plan is hard work, there’s also a lot of fun to be had along the way. Get your friends involved, set fun challenges, and best of all, get on the Paceline app! Remember, when you get friends and family to use Paceline with your referral code, you can both get an added bonus. What better motivation to hit all your activity goals than weekly rewards and offers from the brands you know and love?

No matter your goals this year, following these simple tips is a great way to make sure you succeed. With hard work, dedication, and some added motivation from Paceline, 2022 can be your fittest year yet.
